Why do people attend Therapy?

People attend therapy for various reasons, from coping with distress and life challenges to seeking personal growth and self-discovery. Even with supportive family and friends, individuals may feel isolated or struggle to articulate feelings of anxiety, depression, or distress. Therapy aims to provides a safe space to discuss personal, family, or relationship concerns with an impartial therapist. Common reasons for seeking therapy include bereavement, issues within relationships, health issues, bullying, redundancy, changes or transitions in life or ongoing stress. 

What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?

Counselling and psychotherapy aims to provide a safe space, which is confidential allowing you to explore thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that may be negatively impacting your life. Working with a qualified therapist, can help you gain insight, break free from limiting patterns, and develop healthier, more effective coping strategies. While therapy is often sought during times of transition, personal challenges, or crisis, it is not only for those in distress. It can also be a valuable tool for personal growth, self-care, personal development, and improving overall well-being.

How long is each session and for how long will I have to attend?

Each therapy session lasts approximately 50 minutes, but the overall duration of therapy varies based on individual needs, the nature of the issue, and personal goals. Every client's situation is unique, and we will discuss your progress, review your needs, and adjust the approach accordingly. While I initially recommend around six sessions, because this period allows time to build trust, explore your concerns in depth, and become more comfortable with the process. Regular evaluations ensure that therapy continues to support your growth and well-being effectively.

What if i need to cancel?

I require at least 24 hours' notice. Late cancellations may result in being charged the full session fee. I will explain my specific policy during our first session.

Is Therapy Confidential?

Counselling and psychotherapy is a confidential services. However, there are certain ethical and legal obligations, such as those under the Child Protection Act, that may require disclosure to protect the rights and welfare of minors. I will fully explain the limits of confidentiality during our first session.
